Samsung’s update schedule has been a bit of a disaster. The delayed Oreo rollout for the notwithstanding, Samsung has also been taking it rather slow with the February 2018 security patch roll out. It appears that most compatible devices may not receive the latest patch well into March. For all we know Samsung might very well decide to skip ahead to the March 2018 patch. The security maintenance release for February 2018 brings fixes for several vulnerabilities. It also features fixes for several vulnerabilities found in Samsung’s software. The company is now rolling out firmware version G950USQS2BRB1 for the Galaxy S8 in the United States and G955USQS2BRB1 for the Galaxy S8+. Users who have already received the Android Oreo update can disregard this update, as the Oreo update comes with the February Security patch

Huawei’s subsidiary Honor will kick off their beta program for the Honor 7X, which is arguably one of the best budget phones on the market at this point. Initially, there was some uncertainty about the device getting the update at all, but we later received confirmation that it would. The program will allow users of the 7X to get early access Android 8.0 and EMUI 8.0 on their device. The beta program is currently available for France, Germany, Spain and Italy, and other regions are to be added shortly.

The new update is based on Android Oreo 8.0 and also brings February security patch to the device. Users need to flash the Oreo-based ROM manually even if they are using MIUI Global Beta ROM on their devices.
