The last OnePlus 5/5T open betas were rolled out only a few days ago, shortly after which the OnePlus 3/3T received them. Today OnePlus is sending out another Open Beta update to the OnePlus 5T/5. The update brings the 5T up to Beta 6 and the OnePlus 5 up to Beta 8. Here’s the full changelog of what the update brings:

  • Added Notification ringtone options
  • Added Broadcast caller information – Announce caller information when using earphones

OnePlus Clock

  • Changes to alarm background color and other UI changes

  • Updated Android security patch to 2018-04

The most notable part of the update is the April security patch, which hasn’t even been around for two weeks. Kudos to OnePlus for rolling it out so quickly, albeit in a beta build. Some other changes the update brings include is the “Earphone mode.” Users can have music play automatically when connected to earphones, choose ringtone options, and hear caller ID info through earphones. While the hardware on some of the Nokia devices is strictly underwhelming, HMD Global has ensured that at least the software is up to date. The latest Nokia device to join the Oreo club is the Nokia 3. The update was announced in typical fashion by HMD Global’s product manager Juho Sarvikas:

The update was rolled out after a month-long open beta program. The changelog is standard and brings features such as picture-in-picture mode, notification channels, Autofill API, and a lot more.
