LG’s Oreo update cycle has been all over the place, with the Korean variants of the device receiving it at the end of last year, while the global variants remained on Nougat. The Sprint V30 received Oreo in March, followed by ATT a few days later and Verizon in April. Today, T-Mobile variants of the device can finally receive the much-needed upgrade from Nougat.There is a catch. However, you can only get it from LG Bridge. You can also download the OTA package from XDA Developers and install it using LG’s ‘UP’ desktop software. The update brings the new the AI camera from the V30 ThinQ, along with a rebrand to ‘V30 ThinQ,’ like the other carrier models. Hopefully, it shouldn’t be long before it’s rolled out OTA.
The Asus ZenFone Max Pro is a fairly recent device and was released primarily as competition for Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro. Now, the phone has received its first major update, which is a whopping 1.3GB in size. The most significant feature of the update is the ability to unlock your phone via facial recognition. The device also gets several improvements in gyroscope functionality, audio parameters, and more. Additionally, the response speed of the fingerprint sensor is also said to have been improved. Other changes include optimisation for front and rear cameras, which improve colour correction, HDR and low light photography and more efficient battery usage when in standby mode. On top of all the feature, the update also brings the April 2018 Android security patch for the device. The update is being rolled out incrementally OTA, but you can also look for a manual update by going to Settings System System updates.

Samsung is the only company that seems to be releasing monthly security patches for non-flagship devices first. The trend has been doing on for a while and continues this month with the Galaxy S2 Pro receiving the May security patch. We’re not quite sure what the May security patch fixes, as Google is yet to announce it and roll it out for Pixel and Nexus devices, but this isn’t the first time Samsung has rolled out a patch before Google. For now, the only region to have received the update is Bangladesh (???), but a global rollout is imminent in the next few days.
