The Oreo update for the Samsung Galaxy S7 went through several stages of uncertainty before the official announcement by Samsung. After all, a flagship device is entitled to at least two, if not more, major software updates. Subsequently, all carrier-locked variants of the device got certified to receive Oreo. However, we might have to wait until mid-May before a full-scale rollout begins. Not too long ago, Verizon mistakenly rolled out a new firmware update for the Galaxy S7 and mentioned on the support page for the handset that Oreo had been rolled out. It was later found out that the update wasn’t Oreo, and someone jumped the gun at Verizon.
Sammobile stumbled upon a website used by Samsung Turkey to provide firmware update information to customers in the country. The website states that the Galaxy S7 Oreo release is going to take place on May 18. The date is only a tentative one and not to be taken at face value. Samsung is yet to confirm the official Oreo release date for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, but it’s nice to have a rough idea of these things.

Oreo update for T-Mobile Galaxy Note 8 remains suspended
Just when we thought that the Android Oreo woes of the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 were over, T-Mobile suspended their update indefinitely, just two days after it was announced. The update started rolling out on April 1st (the irony) but was halted the OTA on the 3rd. The only discernible reason for an update to be suspended so quick is the discovery of major bugs. We’re not quite sure what slipped under T-Mobile’s gaze while testing, but it seems like something massive, considering that it’s been three whole weeks, and the support page was only just updated with a notice that the update is “Temporarily on hold” and was “Paused” on April 3rd. If you were one of the lucky ones who did receive Oreo in the two days that it was available, do let us know in the comments if you see anything odd on your Galaxy Note 8.
