The well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has been standing out in the market of smartphones for bringing new technologies, as it recently presented the NEX, a smartphone without notch, almost without borders, with a retractable front camera and a digital fingerprint reader on the screen.
However, now the well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has unveiled a 3D sensor technology that promises to be much better than the Face ID, used by the tech giant Apple on the iPhone X.
The sensor can be installed next to the front camera of a smartphone and has 300,000 points of facial recognition and objects, compared to 30 thousand of the iPhone X. In addition, while Face ID is designed specifically to identify your face, technology of China is more flexible, promising to map objects up to three meters away.
But, how does this work?
Basically, the sensor sends thousands of pulses of light to a face or object and calculates the time it takes to return to the sensor. The shorter the time spent, the closer that point is. Thus, it is possible to map anything in three dimensions.
The sensor can be used to unlock a device by biometrics and improve the quality of selfies – especially with features that blur the background.
The well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer, of course, Vivo tells the well-known web media The Verge that technology can also scan a person’s entire body so they can virtually experience clothing. And, because of the great distance of action, there are applications in augmented reality.
The well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has not informed when the sensor will equip some smartphones of the brand but says that it is not a mere concept. Given the speed at which the Chinese are putting new technologies into commercial products, I would not be surprised to see this soon in stores.
