The Xbox One console is the console showing the fastest sales growth rate for the July 2017 – July 2018 period, according to UK retailer Argos.
The retailer recently revealed that the Fortnite phenomenon helped gaming product sales quite a bit, with headsets, gaming chairs and controllers seeing an increase by 65 per cent, 25 per cent and 20 per cent year-on-year respectively. Gaming laptops sales have also increased by 62% since the beginning of the year.

Regarding consoles, the Xbox One is the console showing the fastest rate of growth, with Argos sales of the console rising by 22 per cent, against an 11 per cent rise for PlayStation 4 and a 9 per cent rise for Switch consoles. Despite the increase of Xbox One sales, the PlayStation 4 continues to be the market leader.
Argos argues that the Xbox One sales increase are mostly due to the release of the Xbox One X, which is the latest console launch. The new console from Microsoft continues to be popular among consumers as it is the only one that offers true 4K gaming.
Nick Hill, Head of Video Gaming Buying at Argos, commented on the matter, saying that the Fortnite phenomenon has yet to peak.
It’s incredible to see how much Fortnite has influenced our customers and inspired a new generation of gamers. Demand for gaming laptops, controllers, gaming chairs and headsets has soared as customers look for ways to further enhance their gaming experience. Based on previous gaming phenomena like Pokemon Go two years ago, we predict that Fortnite fever will peak this Christmas as more of our customers spend their free time immersing themselves in the game.
The Xbox One X has been labeled as the most powerful gaming console currently available. Released in November last year, the Microsoft console is the only one that offers a true 4K gaming experience.
