We all know very well that the tech giant Apple, with the iPhone X, launched Face ID and now it’s the turn of the Android makers, who arrive with ‘delay’. The first, apparently, will be the Xiaomi Mi 7, yes, the Mi 7 will be the first Android smartphone to feature iPhone X-like Face ID tech.
Xiaomi Mi 7 Will Be The First Android Phone To Feature iPhone X-Like Face ID Tech
The tech giant Apple, with the iPhone X, launched Face ID and now it’s the turn of the Android makers, who arrive with ‘delay’. The first, apparently, will be the Xiaomi Mi 7, but will not arrive until the third quarter of the year.
The third quarter of the year is not too far, really, because it starts in the month of July. So from then on, we can wait for the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 7. It was an interesting terminal for many other reasons, although to some extent relegated to the shadow of the newly released Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s, but now it is even more relevant because it will be the first Android smartphone that will come with Face ID technology that the tech giant Apple already includes in its iPhone X.
Xiaomi will debut 3D facial recognition on Android phones with the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 7, starting in July
The latest information on the subject points to problems. Some problems for the providers of this technology, who are working on the combination of software and hardware so that the 3D facial recognition technology works correctly. For the moment, the most precise technology in this field seems to be a company that includes Qualcomm, Himax Technologies and Truly Opto-electronics.
This technology works on the Snapdragon 845, the latest Qualcomm chipset designed for the high-end smartphone. And Xiaomi will be the first company to release this module in the Xiaomi Mi 7.
Neither Huawei nor Samsung uses the processors of Qualcomm – at least, exclusively-, so that is one of the reasons why these companies have not been the first. Xiaomi is the ‘third option’ in the market, but the first one for Qualcomm. So until 2019, surely, we will not see a Samsung Face ID, although Xiaomi will already have it.
