Xiaomi has once more dominated the Android flagship space with another milestone surrounding the Mi 8, as it managed to sell more than 1 million units in less than three weeks. in a matter of three months. This was revealed by the company’s global spokesperson Donovan Sung, who said that the 1 million mark was crossed in just 18 days.

There are three phones in the Mi 8 series: the Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, and Mi 8 Explorer. As of right now, only the Mi 8 and the Mi 8 SE are available and that too in limited markets, with Explorer version to reportedly be released in July.

The new Xiaomi flagships Mi 8 and the Mi 8 SE were unveiled last month. The devices started retailing in China on June 5 and later made their way to France and Russia. The company’s executive has said that it might be released in more international markets from next month, with Xiaomi’s Product Marketing Director for Mobile Phones, Xiao Zhiyuan has confirmed that the phone will start getting sold in different countries.

This also means that the device might start getting sold in India, which prefers price/performance devices like these. Unfortunately, there were no details provided about the Mi 8 SE. However, looking at its sub-$300 price and the first phone to ship with a Snapdragon 710, it is bound to do well in the market.

The Mi 8 also overtook OnePlus 6 in terms of popularity. It took the latter 22 days to reach the 1 million mark and furthermore, the OnePlus 6 was released in various markets while the Mi 8 was initially limited to China first, making the milestone even more impressive.

Coming to the hardware specs, the Xiaomi Mi 8 has a 6.21-inch AMOLED display with a full HD+ resolution. It also features a screen-to-body ratio of 83.8 percent, with the display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone also has a notch which houses the 3D facial recognition technology, making it the first Android flagship to come housing such components, with the Find X being the second.

Xiaomi will certainly be able to turn its affordable flagship into an industry game changer when the Mi 8 is released in more markets.
